Following in my mother’s footsteps (a Practice Manager for over 50 years and now retired) being a Specialist Practice Manager is something that has shaped my entire professional life. As a child in the 1990s, I spent most school holidays in the rooms with my mother, helping with small but memorable tasks like filing (in those orange A5 envelopes!), basic letter typing, and booking appointments (who remembers RX DOS?).

My first role, immediately after high school, was with a well-known Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon on Wickham Terrace, Brisbane. Over the past 25 years since then, I’ve gained extensive experience managing practices across a wide range of specialties.

My father, an electrician by trade, is where my interest in IT began. I spent countless hours tinkering with him in his company workshop on the ground floor of our home, learning the fundamentals of electronics. I’m largely self-taught in IT, from building PCs from scratch to setting up networks, and I have never shared the common fear of technology that many in my generation seem to have.

With a strong eye for detail and comprehensive knowledge of every aspect of running a specialist practice, I’ve often been recognised as the go-to person for advice and technical troubleshooting. Backed by a Dual Diploma of Practice Management and Business, alongside a Certificate III in Information Technology, I was inspired to create a service for those who need expert help but don’t require full-scale consultancy or an external IT firm. I see myself as the “in-betweener” – providing practical, cost-effective solutions tailored to the unique clinical and administrative needs of specialist practices.
